Beyond the Veil: Voices From the Ursuline Convent is an interactive audio-visual experience exploring the first century of the Ursuline Sisters in New Orleans, from their arrival in 1727 to their departure from the French Quarter in 1824.
Created in collaboration with the Old Ursuline Convent, the exhibit follows five individuals connected to the site and invites visitors to encounter their stories through personal narratives, portraits, artifacts, and immersive audio. Through these voices, the experience explores the Ursulines’ roles as educators, nurses, missionaries, and spiritual leaders, while offering a more intimate window into life in eighteenth-century New Orleans.
Rather than presenting history at a distance, Beyond the Veil invites visitors to listen closely and experience the people behind the Convent's story, bringing their lives, choices, and legacies into the present.
